Come and enjoy an entertaining day out watching our local sheepdog trials on Saturday 4th August 2012. Hosted by the current Scottish champion and ‘One man and his dog’ winner Scott Renwick there will be refreshments, children’s games and we’re hoping to organise an evening ceilidh. I’ll keep this item updated as the organisation progresses.
I know it’s leaving it late but there may be someone who wants to spend a relaxing Hogmanay in either of our cottages. Each house is available for the week Thursday 29th December to Thursday 5th January for just £450. All power, and fuel for the solid fuel stoves included. Why not brave escape the city and chill out in the peace and quiet of Letters?
Our swimming pool is open again! If you want a wet weather attraction for all the family then the pool, gym and sauna are ideal.
After about a year of building work to replace the leisure centre roof, the 25 metre Ullapool swimming pool has now re-opened, resplendent with new changing rooms and solar panels on the roof. Future plans are to share a small scale district biomass heating system with the village hall and An Talla Solais arts centre.
I went on a fantastic bread making course on Monday at Ullapool Bakery. We made focacia, spelt, wholemeal, plain white loaves, fruit bread and soda bread, as well as learning about sourdough. The bakery is in the village and Alan the baker has over forty years experience of ‘proper’ baking. All their bread is made without additives by hand.
Come to a traditional highland ceilidh in the Ullapool village hall. Doors open about 9:00 p.m. till the day after. Be prepared for energetic dancing, chatting laughter and more….
